Shu Shenglin never thought that Mai Ding would come to see Ji Meng, he straightened his clothes, with a pleasant smile and spoke in a different voice: “Manager Ji, you are still working, take a break.” Ji Meng is never enthusiastic enough and indifferent enough: “But are you not in the company yourself?”

“Something's up, this PR guy got a little dirty and stole something from me, a flash drive, did you see it?” Shu Shenglin said, watching Ji Meng's face, as he knew her well, she never took sides, only dealt with her own department's business. Ji Meng turned her attention to Mai Ding, “What were you thinking when you gave me what you stole?”

The thing that An-Ziyan gave to her is probably just like what Shu Shenglin said, in order to cover up the crime for An-Ziyan, it's hard for him to admit: “I just found the flash drive by accident, I didn't know that the owner was Manager Shu.”

“I'm a manager and you think I am going to slander someone like you, do you think you're somebody?”

With Ji Meng present, Manager Shu kept his temper in check. But no matter what Shu Shenglin said, Mai Ding just wouldn't admit it. Shu Shenglin didn't want to waste any more time on him and turned to Ji Meng: “Is it true that he gave the flash drive to you, Manager Ji?”

Ji Meng toyed with the tiny flash drive at her fingertips, “You mean this?”


Seeing the flash drive, Shu Shenglin, relieved, full of smiles said: “I think Manager Ji will return it to me, this flash drive has my personal things, although I do not know who ordered this kid but I think Manager Ji will not want to be involved in such things.”

The rumors about An-Ziyan and Ji Meng were circulating in the company recently but Shu Shenglin didn't think it was true and thought it was possible that An-Ziyan was deliberately creating rumors to make people think that he was dragging Ji Meng into his affairs but Shu Shenglin had to be more careful. Mai Ding also looked at Ji Meng, pleading with her to help.

Ji Meng was oblivious to the look in Mai Ding's eyes, she put the flash drive on the table: “Of course, I don't want to receive stolen goods and it's none of my business.” Shu Shenglin picked up the flash drive and put it in his bag, the smile in his eyes deepened: “Manager Ji really helped me a lot, I'll keep this favor in mind, want to go to dinner together?”

“No, I have work to do.”

Mai Ding was reluctant, he didn't even care who he was in the company, he tried to grab the flash drive but Ji Meng caught him: “Don't cause trouble in my office.”

Shu Shenglin gave Mai Ding a cold look, with a smug look of triumph: “I'll leave you to it, Manager Ji.” He turned and went to the elevator and when he pressed the button, An-Ziyan came out and they passed each other, not looking at each other, as if nothing had happened.

An-Ziyan's breathing was slightly imperceptibly fast, he didn't look at Ji Meng, nor did he ask about the flash drive, he just looked at Mai Ding: “Hey, are you okay?” he said.”

Mai Ding shook his head, with a look like he was about to cry: “The flash drive was taken by Manager Shu.”

“Come on, let's not worry about that stuff.”

“Why is it irrelevant, there must be something important on that flash drive?”

“Nothing is important.” And then, without warning, he leaned into Mai Ding's ear, “except you.”

His words are too deliberate, he's coaxing himself, he's messing things up and he's coaxing himself, no matter the occasion, no matter the time but a heartbeat doesn't ease the guilt. Maybe he should have taken the flash drive and left when he realized Ji Meng wouldn't help, his right thumb clasped over his middle finger: “But what if...”

“I just asked you to give the flash drive to Ji Meng and you've done that.”

“It didn't work but Manager Shu took it.” said Mai Ding, annoyed. Ji Meng looked back and forth between Mai Ding and An-Ziyan, it didn't take her long to figure out their relationship, she raised her leg and kicked the table with her toe, “This is the Finance Department, why don't you two go back to the PR Department and have a flirt with each other.” At Ji Meng's words, Mai Ding was shocked and looked back at Ji Meng hastily but her expression didn't change.

“We're not...”

“It's none of my business.” Ji Meng raised her hand to interrupt him but she didn't expect Uncle Fu to be so tight-lipped, never revealing anything about An-Ziyan, even to herself, she couldn't help but have a light smile on her lips, Ji Meng appreciated this way of doing things, just like she wouldn't reveal everything to Uncle Fu out of emotion but An-Ziyan didn't seem ready to hide anything from her.

An-Ziyan's attitude was the opposite of Mai Ding's, ignoring Ji Meng's words and grabbed Mai Ding's wrist: “You'll keep the things for me.”

“I don't understand what you're saying.”

“I think you understand.”

“How are you sure I'll help you?”

An-Ziyan shrugged his shoulders and turned his back to Ji Meng, not stopping in his tracks: “It's because I'm better looking than Cui's fox face.”

She had already had a high opinion of An-Ziyan but now she felt that she had underestimated him and then she put her eyes on the computer screen and moved the files she had copied from the USB flash drive to a more secluded location when Shu Shenglin wasn't looking. The first thing that she did was to put her hands on the computer when she got the flash drive and slipped in the flash drive and she even lied to Mai Ding, so that he wouldn't be exposed, thanks to Mai Ding's diversion of a lot of attention from Shu Shenglin.

She didn't think much of what happened between An-Ziyan and Mai Ding, because it was none of her business.

What part of the conversation was this... it was like listening to alien language for Mai Ding, What the hell are they talking about? Didn't Ji Meng give the flash drive to Manager Shu? When they got to the elevator, An-Ziyan's hand was still on his finger and Mai Ding pulled out his wrist, “What if someone sees us, it's bad enough, now Manager Ji Meng seems to have found out about our relationship, if she turns us in, I'll probably be the one sent to the border.”

“It doesn't matter if she finds out.”

“But just now...”

“Don't worry, she's a lot smarter than you.” Isn't there anyone who can explain it to him? What if Ji Meng had the exact same flash drive in her drawer as Shu Shenglin and she just happened to come to her and she switched it? It's not a coincidence but it's a coincidence that Mai Ding can't think of anything else to do. He's angry with himself for not being able to tell me who she was and she's the manager of the Finance Department and the General Manager's daughter.”

An-Ziyan looked at Mai Ding's face and then he lifted the corner of his mouth and grabbed Mai Ding's wrist again: “It's because of my bad taste that I got involved with you, the nameless employee.”

“That's not nice! Let go of me! I told you they'd find out!” Mai Ding struggled again and with a teasing expression he didn't let go easily, Mai Ding waved his wrist up and down, making useless threats and as he spoke he couldn't help the smile that grew deeper and deeper in the corners of his eyes and mouth.
