I’ll Still Love You Even if You’re a Man 2, Chapter 98: It's been a long night
Mai Ding had forgotten all about it, he didn't even want to remember and he wanted to use his time machine to go back in time and knock himself on the ground for saying something so outrageous in the first place. An-Ziyan narrowed his eyes, “An honest and trustworthy man like you won't break his promise, will you?”
His tone and expression clearly warned Mai Ding that there was no way he could back out of the deal.
“That's... can we go to the most remote place, where no one will see us.”
“Troublesome.”
“It's better to be troublesome than to be seen!!”
There was a knock on the door and the last thing he wants right now is a knock on the door on the weekend, because he's afraid it's Mr. and Mrs. Xu and he's going to avoid them. He looked through the cat's eye and there was Cao Chengyi and Mai Ding opened the door and let him in.
“It's rare that you have the nerve to come to me.” Mai Ding's bad reputation in the company started with Cao Chengyi and he took it hard, because he was very concerned about his reputation.
“Who said I came to you.”
“You should apologize to me.”
“I think you should thank me so that no one else in the company will find out about your relationship with Yan.” Mai Ding couldn't reply but he thought Cao Chengyi had a point. Cao Chengyi sat next to An-Ziyan, turned on the TV and put his legs on the coffee table. Why does everyone come in here and treat this place like their home and why is it so stupid for Mai Ding to pin his hopes on An-Ziyan, who's throwing things on the floor to make more space for himself?
“How's it going over there?”
“It's almost ready but I'm exhausted, so I don't have time to court men, so it's a big loss. After Cao Chengyi says that, Mai Ding can't stand it. I think you should be worn out for the benefit of the guys who don't get hurt.” No one here took his accusations seriously.
“Where's Shenglin.”
“He's the same as usual but we can't find the numbers of the documents provided by Manager Ji, he probably took them away at some point and not many people would care about the previous documents, what do you want to do, find the documents and report them to Mr. Wang to get him fired?”
“I think your brains have been sucked dry by men.” When An-Ziyan mocked him, Cao Chengyi just made a helpless expression: “I'm just saying, I know they're tough to deal with, so it's good to take one down at a time.”
“Even if Shu Shenglin is fired, you're not going to replace him in his place.”
“If I'd known, I would have hooked up with the General Manager, I could have put up with the age and everything.”
“The scum of the earth.” Mai Ding interjected.
“What do you know, it's called waiting for work.”
An-Ziyan frowned unhappily, “Are you here to chat with him?” Cao Chengyi waved his hand in a panic, “Absolutely not, let's continue, then what should we do?” An-Ziyan paused for more than ten seconds, as if he was just thinking of an impromptu solution now, not as if, as Mai Ding knows very well, he's just now starting to think, too hasty!
“We'll have to get Shu Shenglin to resign, then recommend you to the General Manager.”
“Is it possible?”
“Depends on whether he has any dirty secrets.”
“How can you be so lucky?” Mai Ding interjected again, thinking that An-Ziyan was just taking his chances, that there was a good chance that Shu Shenglin had no dirty secrets at all. An-Ziyan turned to Mai Ding, his dark pupils darkened with something more complex and said without missing a beat, “No, Mai Ding, you're lucky if you find someone with no dark secrets, you know?” Mai Ding didn't seem to understand. Cao Chengyi stood up and rubbed his neck, “It's not easy to rest, I can't waste any more time here, I'll look into what happened to Shu Shenglin, I'll be going then.”
After seeing Cao Chengyi leave, Mai Ding found An-Ziyan pondering, is this difficult? Mai Ding wants to help An-Ziyan, to share his burden but what can he do?
“What are you thinking, is that something you can tell me?”
“I was wondering what venue to choose for the evening.”
Mai Ding pushed An-Ziyan's arm, yelling wildly, “Spend more time on the real thing! Please, I'm begging you! It doesn't matter where we are!”
“If you'd said you didn't care where we DO IT, I wouldn't have to think about it.”
“An-Ziyan!”
Mai Ding cleaned the room slowly, hoping that the sun would never set, trying to delay their appointment for the night but the sun didn't care what he thought, sinking at his own pace. An-Ziyan looked at the time and went to the door: “It's about time.”
“Isn't it still early? How about we watch another movie?”
“You think I'm in the mood for a movie?” An-Ziyan retorted but Mai Ding was at his wit's end: “Then wait till I change into something darker, so as not to stand out too much.” An-Ziyan impatiently ordered, “Hurry up.” When Mai Ding came out, he looked like a star who was afraid of being discovered by his fans, wearing a hat, sunglasses and a mask but he wasn't too hot.”
“We're just going to have sex, not commit a crime.”An-Ziyan's blunt words caused Mai Ding to push back his sunglasses and glare at him: “Haven't you seen how sometimes the news reports that a patrolman finds a couple having sex on the side of the road? It's embarrassing to be seen, so make sure you go somewhere less crowded, okay?” Sometimes I don't know what's going on in An-Ziyan's head but I have to cooperate with him.
Mai Ding, who had been sitting in the car, played nervously with his fingers and when he saw the car heading downtown, he exclaimed, “Do you want to be watched? Are you trying to be watched?!” Ann Ziyan gave him a sidelong glance, “I'm just going to dinner.”
“In these matters, I really don't want to be accused by you.”
Although the dinner was delicious, both An-Ziyan and Mai Ding didn't eat much and Mai Ding was so anxious about what was to come that he had no appetite at all, whereas An-Ziyan, on the contrary, was more interested in what was to come than in the food.
