Love is More than a Word《识汝不识丁》Shi Nu Bu Shi Ding
Love is More than a Word, Chapter 91: I will make my own mind about my marriage (1)...
With winter and spring, the snow and ice melting and everything in between, it's the perfect time for a marriage proposal.
There are many men and women in front of the Guanyin Temple.
Gu-She and Tao Mo made their way through the crowd and were soon drowned out.
“Xianzhi?” Tao Mo was not tall, so he was pushed in front of him. There were stone steps beneath him and he had to look for his feet and people, so he stumbled and stumbled.
He's in a hurry, so he can't help but stand on tiptoe to see.
“Master Tao?”
There's a familiar voice behind him.
Tao Mo reluctantly turned back, greeting with a forced smile, “Young Master Lu.”
Lu Zhenxue, who knows at first glance that he doesn't want to take care of himself, his good mood became bad and he said: “Master Tao has only been in Tangyang County for a few months and he has already won the hearts of two beauties. Do you still need to come to the Goddess of Mercy Temple to seek marriage?”
Tao Mo said: “I'm here to remove bad luck.”
“To the bad luck?” Lu Zhenxue thought he disliked Miss Xu, frowning slightly, “Master Tao is too harsh, isn't he?”
Tao Mo scratched his head and said, “I think that's too harsh. But Hao Guozi said that with all the bad luck lately, it's better to get rid of the bad luck.”
It dawned on Lu Zhenxue and he said: “So it's this bad luck.”
Tao Mo said: “Young Master Lu to seek a marriage?”
Lu Zhenxue paled and said calmly, “I'm here with a friend.”
“Oh.” Tao Mo promised and his eyes searched everywhere.
“Master Tao got separated from his servant?” Lu Zhenxue is helping us to find him. Hao Guozi and Lao Tao have both met and he remembers their faces.
Tao Mo shook his head, “Not a servant.”
Lu Zhenxue said in surprise: “Could it be... Miss Xu?”
“Ah, naturally not.” Tao Mo.
When Lu Zhenxue saw that he only denied but did not give an answer, thinking that he did not want to talk, he did not ask any further questions.” Master Tao, why don't you come with me to the temple and have a look around? Maybe if they can't find you, they'll go to the temple.”
Tao Mo hesitated but shook his head, “I'll wait for him here.”
Lu Zhenxue's face calmed and said, “Is he a child? Is he a child?” His words were a bit probing. Tao Mo hasn't been in Tangyang County long and there's only a few people who come and go. He can't think of anyone worthy of his attention.
Tao Mo said: “It was waiting inside and outside anyway, so I waited for him here and could see more clearly.”
A name suddenly flashed through Lu Zhenxue's mind, “Could it be Brother Gu?”
Tao Mo jawed, “Yes Xianzhi.”
“Xianzhi?” Lu Zhenxue was first stunned, then shocked and followed up with, “Which Xianzhi?”
Tao Mo looked at him awkwardly.
Lu Zhenxue then remembered that he was illiterate and laughed dryly, “I was just thinking of someone, a little out of place.”
Tao Mo suddenly looked steadily in one direction, his eyes almost sparkling.
“Who do you think is losing his temper like this, Brother Lu?” Gu-She's voice rang out from that direction.
Lu Zhenxue turned around and saw Gu-She walking gracefully from the crowd with a candy cane. Strangely enough, it was so crowded everywhere but when Gu-She was there, everyone made a little distance for fear of accidentally bumping into him.
Gu-She walked up to Tao Mo and handed him the candy cane.
Tao Mo opened his eyes wide in surprise, “For me?”
Gu-She said, “Take it.”
He was supposed to carry it. Tao Mo took it nicely.
Gu-She said: “Eat.”
Tao Mo fingered his nose with a candy cane.
Gu-She nodded.
Tao Mo grinned and took a happy bite.
Lu Zhenxue stood by, suddenly feeling superfluous, like an intruder, walking into a room that did not belong to him.
“Brother Lu you have come to seek a marriage?” asked Gu-She.
Lu Zhenxue came back from his trance and said, “Ah, it was my mother's idea.”
Tao Mo was startled, “I thought you said you were accompanying a friend.”
After all, Lu Zhenxue is Lin Zhengyong's favorite pupil and in a flash of thought, she found a way to say, “My mother ordered me to accompany my friend here.”
Gu-She said, “In that case, please make yourself at home.” he said, reaching for Tao Mo, he walked towards the temple.
Tao Mo was held by him, so stiff he could barely bend his knees and he had to lift his foot twice to cross the threshold.
When they got to the main hall, they saw a futon full of people kneeling on it.
There's a lot of drumming.
Gu-She let go of Tao Mo's hand, “I thought we were going to bad luck?”
Tao Mo was startled: “How do I get there?”
Gu-She said, “Make a wish to the Bodhisattva.” He took the candy cane from his hand.
Tao Mo went dumbfounded, kneeling on a futon in the last corner of the row.
Gu-She watched him kowtow respectfully, without turning back, “What else do you want to do, Brother Lu?”
Lu Zhenxue smilingly stepped forward and said, “I didn't expect Brother Gu and Master Tao to have such a deep relationship.”
Gu-She said, “There are always a few things in this world that you don't expect.”
Lu Zhenxue said, “So it seems, Brother Gu previously wanted to ask the litigation master to go to a neighboring county to file a lawsuit, so it should be for Master Tao?”
Gu-She said, “Brother Lu is interested in this matter?”
Lu Zhenxue: “No. I'm just asking casually.”
Gu-She said, “Didn't Brother Lu come with a friend?” (What are you still here for?)
Lu Zhenxue said, “Is Brother Gu driving me away?”
Gu-She turned his head, looked at him and smiled as if to say, “Who says so?”
Lu Zhenxue said, “There is one thing I don't know whether to ask or not.”
Gu-She didn't answer. He turned back and still looked at Tao Mo's back.
“I heard Master Tao call Brother Gu... Xianzhi.” Lu Zhenxue, “and the name for Gu is Xianzhi?”
Gu-She answered.
“Gu Xianzhi?” Lu Zhenxue pronounced each word very heavily, as if to confirm something.
Gu-She simply headed over to Tao Mo.
Just as Tao Mo stood up. Gu-She said, “What did you ask for?”
Tao Mo said: “Peace. For Lao Tao, Hao Guozi, Gu Xiaojia and Tangyang County all be safe.”
Gu-She said, “What about you?”
Tao Mo froze.
Gu-She face calmed.
Tao Mo hurriedly got back on his knees and made up for what he hadn't asked for.
It took him a while but he stood up again.
Gu-She said: “You alone have begged longer than all of us.”
Tao Mo said, “I'm going to do it again. As many times as I say it, the Bodhisattva might remember it a little better.”
Gu-She said, “In that case, I'll go to the abbot.” He gave him back the candy cane.
“Huh? Why?” Tao Mo was behind him.
Gu-She said, “He is here every day, that he may read that prayer every day.”
Tao Mo noticed that Lu Zhenxue had followed and said, “Brother Lu isn't going to look for his friend?”
Lu Zhenxue said, “I got separated from them and most of them went back first.” He paused, looked at Gu-She and Tao Mo and said with meaning, “Not all friends stay put and wait for each other to return.”
Tao Mo bit into a candy cane and feels warm inside, like a hot spring puffing out.
The Guanyin Temple is small but there's a courtyard behind the main hall, where several fortune-telling booths are set up and a number of shy teenagers are standing in front of them.
Lu Zhenxue said, “Brother Gu and Master Tao don't count as one gossip?”
Tao Mo was tempted but what he wants to count, he can't reveal in broad daylight.
Gu-She said, “If a person can't grasp the destiny of marriage by himself, what else can he grasp?”
Lu Zhenxue's face tightened. He said he came with a friend as an alibi but he did come for a marriage proposal, not of his own free will but because his mother ordered him to come.
“You're so open-minded, Gu. Don't your parents ever ask questions?” Lu Zhenxue probed.
Gu-She asked rhetorically, “Did your father ask you?”
Lu Zhenxue pursed his lips and smiled: “Life is a matter of life and death, it is only right that parents should be concerned.”
The three of them said and walked to the side hall, just as there was a little monk holding a merit box looking around, saw Gu-She and others eyes shining, said the Buddha's name, came over and said, “Do you seek a marriage?”
Gu-She said, “No, it's for peace. Is your temple abbot available?”
The little monk said: “The abbot is discussing the scriptures with the traveling monks.”
Gu-She said, “In that case, I'll leave it to you.”
Little Sandy: “Please speak, Master.”
Gu-She said, “I want to ask you to pray for the peace of one person every day.” He took out a silver bar and put it in the merit box.
Tao Mo and Lu Zhenxue were both stunned.
As soon as the silver ticket was put into the box, I saw the amount and was amazed, then said, “Please speak, Master.”
“His name is Tao Mo.”
